Forest Labs

  We at Narrows Wood have been selected as Stewardship Scientists in a New Collaborative research project, with Forest Scientists in the UK from Forest Research & The Sylva foundation!  These projects are to Study the Effects of Climate Change & how to  improve Species suitability for Narrows Wood as part of our Management Program. Project 1 - Ecological Site Classification. Project 2 - Growth 04/06/23  6 Girth bands now installed on site to monitor the Sessile Oak Tree Growth at our woodland. The installation of the Girth bands will allow us to monitor the Growth and health of our wood collecting Data to relay back to Forest Research Scientists at Forest Lab. 

Air Rifle Range

Private Air Rifle Range   May 2023 Our Private Shooting Range has now been installed at our site. The Shooting range will give Us a private Safe place to Practice Air Gun / Rifle Target shooting. Here we will be able to enjoy the sport of target shooting.  Air guns can be Dangerous so Safety glasses are to be warn at all timed while in the shooting area.  BBs & Pellets can injury or even kill ! Many of the other Woodland Owners around Cwm Gilla Wood also have there own Shooting Ranges as each woodland owner own's the Sporting & Mineral Rights to there part of Cwmgilla wood. So we have also decided to Join in the Sport of Target Shooting and set our own Shooting Range!  After having a go at one of our Neighbours Shooting Ranges. Great fun & also practice good for Pest control controlling the Grey Squirrels as part of our Management of our Coppice Wood.  Grey Squirrels not only damage the trees but also cause egg predation by steeling eggs from birds nests for food.
