This year started off not very good for Us.

January was a sad time for me as my Father Past Away the first week of January from Cancer.

Also this month we had bad winter storms at our Woodland with heavy Snows.

The Snows damaged our Storage Cage up at the woodland with the roof collapsing in the middle due to the weight of the snow.



Due to the Damage I have temporarily repaired it with the aid of a long stick to prop up the roof for now until I can install a new Cage. We will also be replacing it with a Permanent Wooden Shed so that we can continue our Wildlife conservation work on site.

We have also planted another 3 fruit trees this month making a total of 14 fruit trees in our orchard. 

The orchard has also been home to a small colony of rabbits so we have had to make sure our trees are protected with tree guards to stop them damaging our fruit trees. 

We are also hoping for a better breeding Season for the Pied Flycatchers as we installed 24 new nest boxed last year taking our total next boxes up to 27.

Last year we were unsuccessful with Pied Flycatchers spotting only one pair which failed to nest at our site. Though they did inspect a couple of nest boxes they did not use them Last Year.


  We also installed 4 Hedgehog boxes & 10 temporary Dormouse boxes but none of these were used by Hedgehogs or Dormice. 

We did see a Muntjac Deer for the first time this winter in 2025 in the woods & spotted a Badgers & Polecat in our Orchard. Last time we spotted one of the Polecats was back in 2023 so good to see they are still in the area since there release back to the wild at our site back in 2021.

News for April In April we will be starting a new wild flower project. We have ordered 420 bulbs from  garden supply direct   100 native double headed daffodils bulbs in the green Unfortunately they had no double heads in stock but gave us extra Wild Daffodils. So ended up with about  500 native wild daffodils bulbs in the green 200 wild garlic bulbs in the green 20 snakehead fritillary bulbs in the green.  Pied Flycatcher Project (Gwybedog brith) Pied Flycatcher Protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.  Priority Species under the UK Post-2010 Biodiversity Framework. link to Outside info page on the Pied Flycatcher Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleeuca)  The valleys and hillsides of Wales are a good place for breeding Pied Flycatchers in summer. The pied flycatcher is a small, black-and-white bird of mature woodland with a preference for oak trees.  They are  slightly smaller than a house sparrow. Males are mostly black above and white below, with a bold white patch on the folded wing. Females have the same basic patterning, but are browner in colour. It is a summer visitor from April and May onwards, and breeds mainly in western areas of Britain. Hedgehog Project

Hedgehog Conservation status Protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.  Priority Species under the UK Post-2010 Biodiversity Framework. IUCN Red List for British Mammals - vulnerable to extinction. We recently spotted a Hedgehog in our woodland, which has created a Natural home in the Leaf litter under some Brambles in our Woodland. Now that we know they Hedgehogs are Present in our woodland we can now look at protecting & Monitoring Hedgehogs.   08/09/23 Update We have ordered two Hedgehog Houses and waiting for them to arrive. Once they have arrived Tracey & I will be painting them with wildlife friendly paint to protect them from the elements.
