March 2024 News Update

 March 2024 News Update

Work to Commence on our Woodstore/Shed this month .with the help of my Friend & Fellow Air Gunner Rob.In exchange for his help I have granted him Permition' s for Shooting at our Air Rifle Range & Pest Control at Narrows wood to help Us in controlling Grey Squirrels. No other shooter has Permition on our property to shoot other than ourselves & Rob who is fully insured & has Written legal Permition too do So from Us.

If you own the sporting rights at your own wood like we do and you are looking for the Legal Paperwork for setting up Permition at your own woodland & getting your own Shooting Insurance BASC https://basc.org.uk/ provide Both insurance & legal forms to work with your pest controller/game keepers.

Anyone Trespassing / hunters entering your property carrying a weapon uncovered such as a Shotgun, BB gun or Air Rifle on to your property would be classed as armed trespass, even if the weapon unloaded which is a serious Offence and would carry a hefty prison sentence.

So if you allow shooting on your property its best to make sure whoever you allow permition' s are legally covered & Insured.

We have also signed Up to the BASC conservation-mapping site Green Shoots.

This Provides Us with powerful Mapping Tools & a place to record Shooting & Conservation Data.

Helping us keep a record of what wildlife we spot at our site & a record of our Target Shooting.

Update 12/03/24

Map of Site

Today Work started on our Woodstore/Shed.
With Robs help we constructed the first part of our Site installing a wood storage Cage this will allow Us to dry Hazel Poles for making things like Walking sticks etc. Using traditional Hand tools & green wood working methods.
The construction was easy enough to do between Us, but made difficult due to the Rainy weather which made the ground very boggy making it slippy and horrible weather to work in. Hopefully the weather will improve as so far 2024 has been a very wet year at the wood.

Picture below Rob hard at work Trimming the Wire to size.

Next stage is to continue working on the cage and install the Gravel Base ground work for the Site shed Structure. Which we will hopefully start next week.

When It's all built it will be good to have a Dry work area so that we can maintain and process our woodland for Green woodworking.
