Reptile Refugia

We have Ordered 3 Reptile Refugia to start surveying reptiles on site and provide them with shelter. The Refugia will be placed around the site to establish what Reptiles are in the Woodland. If they are successful we may add more.

With the excellent advice from Frogslife  on Surveying Reptiles.
We will be Using there two methods Walkabout Search & Refugia Search.
We plan to Survey our site about 7 -8 times a year between march & September.

Spring Surveys

Survey 1 will take place sometime in middle of March

Survey 2 will take place sometime in the beginning April

Survey 3 will take place sometime in late April

Survey 4 will take place sometime in early May

Survey 5 will take place sometime in late May

Summer Surveys

Survey 6 will take place sometime in early June

Between Late June through to Late July is Horsefly Season and No Wildlife Surveys take place as you can get bitten quite bad at our woodland site ! So very minimal visits during these two months just for camera maintainace takes place.

Survey 7 -8 will take place sometime in between Late August in to Early September.

Hibernaculum & Amphibian Pond

We are Planning to building a Hibernaculum for the wildlife we hope to also install a pond close by the Hibernaculum. A small Pond will provide a home for Amphibians, Insects & other wildlife for drinking water. This will also be an interesting project to do . We have found some old carpet dumped & Drainage pipes on site so will utilise this in Building our pond adding extra protection to the lining of the pond. Also making use of Farm Junk found on site for the good of the wildlife.

Please return for Updates.

First stage of our Reptile Project starts Today as we will be installing Refugees around our site for wildlife. This will help us Survey the area for Reptiles & Amphibian's. Should be interesting to find out if we have any at our site.

News update In Early February 2024

Unfortunately we found that two of our Reptile Refugees in the Car Park  had Been Shot at with possibly a shot gun as we also found it dumped down the bank where also someone has been fly tipping. Luckily not too much damage has been done to the Refugee so we have relocated and have had to install surveillance equipment on site. If we find who has entered our site Trespassing to use Fire Arms , Damage equipment been Fly tipping this will be passed on to the Police.

(Note We Own the Sporting  & Mineral Rights to our Property and they are not Let to anyone else!)

No unauthorised Hunting, Fly tipping or Trespassing is allowed on our Site!

Those found committing these offences will be Prosecuted!

Armed Trespass is also a Serious Criminal Offence which carries a prison sentence!
