 Wildflower Project

8/10/2021

Project Completed 3/11/21

Tracey will be doing a Wildflower project planting some new native Woodland flowers

to increase the biodiversity of the woodland for the wildlife, especially for the pollinating insects.

Most of the species ordered we have already in the wood but of limited numbers, So it is hoped to increase the numbers we have of these native plants.

We have ordered some bulbs & seeds from Garden Supplies Direct.

Watch this space for Updates.

14/10/21

We are currently waiting for the bulbs and seeds to arrive, hopefully within the next few days.

Then after Tracey has worked out a planting plan we will get them planted ready for the Spring.

17/10/21

Tracey planted 100 Ramsons (wild garlic), 49 wild Daffodils & 100 Snow Drops in the woodland today. We also planted 1 apple Tree & 2 Pear trees near the Bench area. Tracey has cordoned off planting area with red and white tape So the area is not disturbed while they grow.

23/10/21

Tracey Planted 100 Native Bluebells today while John installed 19 Nest Boxes around the woodland.

All bluebells are in the cordoned off area.

30/10/21

Tracey & John planted the last of the bulbs today 100 wild Crocuses in the cordoned off area.

3/11/21

Tracey & John mixed the wild Flower woodland seed mix with soil then sprinkled it in the middle of the woodland between the fence service path and the main middle path.

This completes the wild flower planting Project for 2021 !

We just have to wait till the Spring/ Summer to see how successful it has been.

April 2022 Update!

So far we have had moderate Success with the Wildflower planting.

There are also plenty of other native plants Growing in Our Wood.

Wild Garlic                          Dogs Violet & Wood Sorrell

English Blue Bells       &       Snow Drops

The Ramsons (wild garlic) seem to have done Ok & also we did see a few Snow drops at the beginning of the year. The Crocus & Daffodils appeared but have not flowered yet. The blue bells are only just flowering in our woods and we were pleasantly surprised to see we have plenty of English blue bells growing naturally in the woods.
